So, how did I get here?
I have always loved food (thankfully I loved healthy foods as much as unhealthy foods) and I exercised a lot. But nearly 20 years ago my hands and feet started swelling up and I was in constant pain. For over a year I saw doctors and nobody was able to help me. I was depressed, in pain, suffered from cravings (especially bread and ice cream!), couldn’t exercise anymore, spend days in bed and subsequently gained nearly three stones in weight.
At one point I decided to take matters in my own hands and started experimenting with foods, cut out certain food groups and re-introduced them and over time I was able to manage the pain and find exercises which helped me – physically and mentally. I lost 3st, re-gained my energy and felt at home in my body for the first time in years. Finally two years ago I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis.
By then I was hooked – I had spent the previous 10 years climbing the career ladder in the corporate world but now I had learned so much about nutrition and exercise, it made me think about what I was eating and the effect it had on my body. I decided to study the topic and help others.
Now I work with people of all age groups, prepare athletes for competition, help busy managers to stay alert in all-day meetings and I work with companies to educate their staff about how nutrition can support a healthy and happy workplace: healthy food can increase productivity, reduce stress and boost efficiency. When your body is functioning at its best, not only do you feel more awake, but you are also more focused. The more focused you are, the more you can get done.
Your health is my focus. I do not promise you a six-pack (I leave that to those brilliant Personal Trainers I am working with!), I won’t sell you any products, overpriced juices or powders – all I am offering you is my knowledge about food and the amazing things it can do for you to help you on your way back to a healthy weight.
To me, healthy living is a choice not a luxury. The ownership of your wellbeing is yours.
Make yourself a priority and you will be able to change.
If you just can’t seem to shift your weight, feel run down and tired, look pale, have problems sleeping or just feel that “something’s not right” I am here to help identifying your nutritional deficiencies and recommend the foods to eat to make you feel great again! I will always recommend a natural approach to optimising health but I work alongside doctors and specialists to support their diagnosis. Depending on your personal preferences I sometimes consider recommending supplements.
In my opinion, a ‘diet’ should not be a phase of eating a restricted number of foods for a few weeks, but it should be a healthy longterm lifestyle. You should always enjoy your foods! As a foodie myself, I understand passion for eating and personal tastes, therefore I am here to help you on your journey to build a good relationship with delicious healthy foods. At the same time I think that recipes must be easy to follow with simple ingredients. We live in a busy world and most people don’t have the time to spend hours in the kitchen.
Eating well doesn’t have to be difficult!
